Vintage cased theodolie with wood and brass tripod. This example is a military No 5 mk I and unlike conventional theodolites this instrument delivers an upright (rather than an inverted image) which means that it can be used like a conventional telescope. It makes a highly attractive display piece or could of course be used 'in the field'. Approximately 35cm long, 22cm high. All too often pieces such as this are either dowdy, dirty and in disrepair or have been polished up but thankfully it retains all its original finishes in rather good condition - having been protected in its box which does bear the marks and scars of constant use.
