English oak chest of drawers from circa 1670 with mitred mouldings, desirable proportions and graduated drawer layout. This splendid chest, which is absolutely quintessential of its period, has come through its 350 odd years with a few minor repairs. Whilst the brass escutcheons are very likely the originals it is fitted with, at least, its third set of brasses (these being of a style some 30 years later than the piece itself). However, importantly, it has the unusual distinction of remaining absolutely rot and worm free. It measures 39 inches in width, 35 inches high and has a depth of a generous 23 inches.

Charles II English oak chest of drawers
Classically dimensioned oak chest of drawers from the reign of King George II - a little unusual in that it was one of those made in two parts for transportation and accessing awkward areas. With absolutely not a trace of woodworm and retaining its original locks and brasses, as well as locating irons, a piece such as this and of these proportions is a rare thing to come across. Now nearing the end of its third century of existence it has one or two minor historic repairs and a (candle?) burn to its top but is one hundred percent sound and stands firm and solid. It is a little under 36 inches wide, by 37 inches high and just under 19 inches deep by the way.l

Georgian pine chest of drawers
Small collectors chest in (painted) pine with six drawers. This came straight from a house that was built in the early 1930s and has been in the same family ever since. Each drawer has still has its contents assembled by the youngsters during the mid '30s and early years of the war. Contents almost wholly comprise of shells (these likely brought back from foreign parts by their father who was a seafarer) and coins. Coins are various nationalities but largely British (e.g. there is a 'run' of over 20 rather worn Victorian pennies) and date from the 1870s up until the early 1940s. Each drawer has a glass cover in rebate (one cracked). Please note that due to its charm we have left this entirely as found and the pine chest could of course be stripped and red handles replaced with dinkie brass knobs - also contents are undisturbed.

Small collectors chest with coins and shells
An attractive 4 drawer chest from circa 1900 of simple design yet elegant proportions - its original ornate brass handles and escutcheons giving it a lift from the utilitarian that would allow it to be equally at home 'upstairs or downstairs'. Predominantly of pine it is solid wood throughout (note no plywood for the drawer bases as was beginning to be used on cheaper products by this period) and is solidly constructed with traditional dovetailing and joints. Its original locks are all in situ but, as in so often the case, the key has been mislaid at some point.....but who locks their drawers? Will it fit in your house? Well - it's 40 inches, 18 inches deep and 32 inches high.
