High-back Lincolnshire 'Caistor' Windsor Chair

High-back Lincolnshire 'Caistor' Windsor Chair
DescriptionA rare and unique Lincolnshire 'Caistor' Windsor chair in good and original condition. Re Bernard Cotton 'The English Regional Chair', these chairs were made in the Lincolnshire town of Caistor between 1850-1890 and most probably in the workshop of John Shadford. His notebooks survive and the drawings match these chairs down to the unusual turnings to the individual components used. The chair has some nice wear through the red lead ground to the Ash wood of the arms and back. A very interesting chair. 47" high x 23" wide x 24" deep 18" seat height
